Sunflower Oil Price in Uganda - July 2024 Market Prices
The import price per kilogram of Sunflower Oil into Uganda has been relatively stable over the last five years. In 2017, the price was 1.59 US$ per kg, followed by 1.56 US$ per kg in 2018. In 2019, the price dropped to 1.47 US$ per kg, before increasing to 1.49 US$ per kg in 2020. The highest price was recorded in 2021, at 1.86 US$ per kg.
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) has become the most important oil crops in Uganda. The area under production has increased dramatically since the mid 1990s. In the 1970s and 1980s, sunflower breeding research was based on evaluating imported hybrids. This did not show any impact in com-mercial production.
