  • Who drilled the new Ivory Coast Wells?
  • The new wells at this site will be drilled by the Deep Value Driller ship owned by the eponymous company, which arrived in Ivory Coast from Norway a few weeks ago. The operation will be conducted by ENI's compatriot Saipem over the course of 1,000 days, its contract stipulating 11 wells (plus another 5 optional wells).
  • Will Eni drill a new well in Ivorian waters?
  • ENI will also be very active in Ivorian waters. The Italian operator will not be drilling any new exploration wells but will be focusing instead on developing the huge Baleine reserves, Phase 1 of which (15,000 bpd) was launched in late August, just under two years since the deposit was discovered in September 2021.
  • How much oil does Baleine east 1x produce?
  • Baleine East 1X encountered a continuous oil column of 48m in reservoir rocks. The production test confirmed the production of at least 12,000 barrels of oil and 14 million cubic feet (mcf) of associated gas a day from the well. The Baleine project is being developed in phases, with production from phase one expected to begin in 2023.
  • Will offshore drilling be a big deal in 2024?
  • Several operators will be embarking on new offshore drilling campaigns in 2024, while Italy's ENI develops its huge Baleine reserves. The Ivorian coastline will be the theatre of several offshore drilling campaigns in the coming months, ENI 's discovery of the Baleine deposit in 2021 having revitalised exploration in the area.
