Transforming Lesotho’s Farmers into Entrepreneurs
Since the start of project in 2012: The percentage of targeted beneficiaries to adopt improved technologies and farming practices has increased by 144%. The number of new business contracts between farmer groups and the private sector increased by an estimated 20%. More than 56% of beneficiaries record better access to markets.
The project has also stimulated development of the national research capacity, particularly for sunflower production, and, through its work with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards, has introduced food safety standards for traditional village-level processing.
