Efficient and eco-friendly extraction of corn germ oil using
Introduction. Corn germ is a substantial byproduct of the wet milling and alcohol industry of corn. Corn germ (dry) contains 35–56 % oil, with linoleic acid (C18:2) being the predominant fatty acid (49–61.9 %) and the highest level of tocopherol and phytosterol amongst all vegetable oils, which is a cost-effective resource for healthy nutritious oil.
Dingsheng Machine offers a complete range of solutions for corn germ oil processing. Our comprehensive product line can help you increase production while me...
Oil and protein recovery from corn germ: Extraction yield
This work aimed the recovery of oil and protein fractions from corn germ (CG) generated as a by-product during flour processing. Several oil extraction techniques were investigated: hexane at room temperature, hexane at 45 °C, supercritical carbon dioxide (Sc-CO 2) and Soxhlet with hexane and ethanol.
The aim of this work was to investigate corn germ oil extraction using supercritical CO2 and cosolvents addition (hexane, acetone and ethanol). The effects of temperature (45–85 °C) and pressure (15–25 MPa) on the extract yield were evaluated for the tests conducted only with supercritical CO2. The addition of cosolvents to supercritical CO2 was also examined at 25 MPa and 60 °C. The
Front‐end corn germ separation: Process variations
Background. The popularity of grain-based ethanol production, especially via dry-grind bioethanol from corn and subsequent accumulation of low-value coproducts, especially dried distillers grain with solubles (DDGS), has emphasized the need to add value to the process by recovering different corn components for potential food, feed, and industrial applications prior to ethanol fermentation.
2, The solvent extraction process involves further soaking the processed corn germ cake in a solvent, typically hexane, to dissolve the corn oil present in the cake. This is followed by a series of steps, such as mixing oil processing, where the oil is separated from the solvent through evaporation and distillation based on their different
Extraction of corn germ oil with supercritical CO2
Experimental and modeled kinetic curves for the extraction of corn germ oil with CO 2 as solvent: run 3—52 °C and 23.5 MPa, run 5—45 °C and 20.0 MPa, and run 8—65 °C and 25.0 MPa. In the studied kinetics, CER and FER steps, evidenced by their respective time-span periods, varied between 25–45 min and 75–135 min.
Making Corn Oil/Corn Germ Oil by Screw Oil Press. The most fat of corn kernel is in the corn germ. Corn germ can be pressed by integrated screw oil press. This machine is one of the advanced oil presses. It can squeeze and filter oil at the same time. Corn Germ Oil Extraction Plant - Complete Turnkey Project
Determination and prediction of the digestible
INTRODUCTION. Corn germ meal (CGM) is produced during the process of germ extraction to produce corn oil for human consumption [].As a by-product of the oil industry, CGM could provide relative abundant protein and energy contents, which was firstly thought to be used in pet food to replace part of the more expensive corn and also a small portion of the soybean meal [].
Corn Oil Extraction Plant, Corn Oil Processing Plant. Introduction to Corn Oil Extraction Plant. Corn oil extraction plant extracts corn germ from corn and produces corn germ oil by solvent extraction method. The corn oil production line includes corn germ extraction process, corn germ pretreatment and prepressing process, corn germ cake solvent extraction process and crude corn germ oil
- What is corn germ oil processing by-products?
- Corn (Zea mays L.) is one of the most relevant and cultivated cereals. During the processing of corn, especially in obtaining edible oil, large quantities of by-products are generated, called corn germ oil processing by-products. In this sense, this chapter provides...
- Which extraction method has the highest yield in corn germs?
- In both corn germs, the UAE extracts showed the highest yields (about 12%), followed by the extracts obtained by alkaline hydrolysis + sonication (about 5%) and by alkaline hydrolysis (about 3%). Enzymatic hydrolysis was the extraction method with lower yields (less than 1%) in both corn germs.
- What is corn oil?
- Corn oil, produced by solvent extraction or pressing, is a type of high-quality vegetable oil containing polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) . Although corn has great industrial potential, its grains are rich in starch and oil . Fatty acids found in corn are found in the germ with a value of approximately 85% .
- What fatty acids are in corn germ oil?
- The main fatty acids in corn germ oil are linoleic (39¨C63%), oleic (20¨C42%), and palmitic (9¨C17%) . According to the same authors, several methods are used for the recovery of corn germ oil, such as pressing, solvent, extraction of aqueous, enzymatic, and supercritical fluid.
- Why is corn oil produced in China?
- Corn oil production reached 1.5 million tons, mainly because it became an essential type of edible oil in China . After extracting corn oil, some co-products are generated, such as corn germ bran . Corn by-products are generally used as a starting raw material for feed and food products [57, 58].
- What are the characteristics of corn oil processing by-product?
- In general, it is verified that corn oil processing by-product has a dry matter content of 89.0%, crude protein around 10.6%, the crude fiber of 4.6%, ether extract close to 1.34%, in addition to calcium, phosphorus, several amino acids such as methionine, lysine, and tryptophan [22, 23, 24].
