  • This work compares the yield and quality of the flaxseed oil obtained by individually optimized supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (SCE), three-phase partitioning (TPP), solvent extraction and the reported values of cold press extraction.

  • Solvent extraction gave the highest oil yield. Oil extracted by SCE showed the best quality in terms of unsaturation and antioxidant activity. Enzymatic pre-treated TPP is a promising approach for extraction of oil from flaxseed as it simultaneously separates protein and oil.
