Regarding oil palm, it develops preferentially in the coastal area qualified as the ¡°elaeisfarming¡± belt of Cameroon ( Figure 1 ). Administratively, oil palm plantations and concessions are set up in the maritime facades of the southern, coastal and southwestern regions [ 10, 15, 16 ]. Figure 1.

In Cameroon, oil palm plantations cover more than 170,000 ha of national land, including 70,000 ha of industrial plantations and 100,000 ha of village plantations.
What impact does palm oil exploitation have on Cameroon?
Nowadays, palm plantations occupy almost 400 000ha shared between agro-industries, elites and small farmers while annual palm oil production increased from 150, 000 tons in 2000 to 413,000 tons in 2018 against a demand that peaked at 1.179 million tons in 2018. This would assess the impacts of the oil palm exploitation in Cameroon.
What is the approach to sustainable oil palm production in Cameroon?
The approach is based on field surveys carried out in various production basins, particularly in the South-West, Littoral and Central regions. They also take into account the resolutions of various workshops bringing together stakeholders on the matter of sustainability in the oil palm sector in Cameroon.
