The edible oil import has been increasing at Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.6 percent since 2009-10.

  • The total availability of edible oil in the country during 2019-20 was 4.316 million tons. It included domestic oil production of 0.554 million tones (13% of the total requirement) while Pakistan had to import 3.765 million tones (87% of the total requirement) of edible oil and oilseeds to fulfill domestic requirements.
