Petrosen: Our ambition is to make Senegal an oil and gas giant
In 2022, Petrosen took a majority stake in Société Africaine de Raffinage, and now holds 93.5% of the refinery. Refining capacity recently increased from 1.2m to 1.5m tonnes per year and the plan is to start processing crude oil from the Sangomar field. It is estimated that the country needs to refine 3m tonnes per year to meet domestic demand.
The Senegal customer is a big group company, its main business is processing storage, and distribution of various products. This peanut oil pressing and refining production line was designed to meet their business and run well.

Senegal to Expand Refining Capacity to Meet Local Demand
Connect with us: December 18, 2020. Serigne Mboup, Director General of the Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR), spoke to Africa Oil & Power about how the oldest refinery in West Africa has put together an ambitious extension plan to meet local demand requirements. Senegal will start producing crude oil from its offshore Sangomar field in 2023.
Oil refining processes are the chemical engineering processes and other facilities used in petroleum refineries (also referred to as oil refineries) to transform crude oil into useful products such as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), gasoline or petrol, kerosene, jet fuel, diesel oil and fuel oils. PCC's oil refinery usually consists of
Oils Fats Refining Equipment and Turnkey Plants
We can provide edible oil refining plant equipment with capacity ranging from 50 t/d to 4,000 t/d for soybean oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower seed oil, cottonseed oil, rice bran oil, palm oil, corn oil, peanut oil, linseed oil, animal fats and oils, chicken fat, butter, fish oil and etc.
Installing a power recovery system (PRS) to generate power from an existing fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCCU) or residual fluid catalytic cracking unit (RFCCU) increases the energy efficiency of the unit and effectively results in an overall CO2 emissions capture credit for the refinery. A FCCU or RFCCU converts heavy fractions of crude oil

Forth Step of Vegetable Oil Refining Process. Deodorization Process is the forth step in vegetable oil refining which commences after finishing the bleaching. Deodorization holds a big impact on the refined oil quality and is often considered as the heart of the entire edible oil refining method.
- Are Senegal's oil and gas projects moving ahead?
- Preparing for delays In spite of the pandemic and global economic crisis, Senegal¡¯s two main oil and gas projects (GTA and Sangomar) are moving ahead, albeit with some delay.
- Which companies are operating in Senegal's oil and gas sectors?
- The following are the main companies operating in Senegal's oil and gas sectors: BP (BP.L) and U.S.-listed Kosmo Energy (KOS.N) are leading the development of Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA), Senegal's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) project.
- Does Senegal have oil & gas reserves?
- Senegal has been a small-scale producer of natural gas for decades. But since 2014, there have been a number of significant discoveries of oil and gas reserves. Of these, two major projects (the Sangomar and GTA fields) have secured FIDs. Senegal made its first major oil strike in November 2014, when Cairn Energy discovered the Sangomar field.
- Can Senegal become a hydrocarbon producer?
- Senegal, with significant reserves of natural gas, appears to be on the verge of becoming a significant hydrocarbon producer. This resource wealth presents the country with opportunities, but also risks.
