- This involves the use of a screw press. Raw cashew nut-shells are put in the hydraulic press on screw pressing, and then a high pressure is exerted on it to force out the oil from the shells. This method is direct and quick, among other methods of extraction (38).
- How to extract CNSL from cashew nut?
- It has been estimated that the raw cashew nut contains approximately 20% of the nutshell oil. Basically, three main extraction methods have been established for the extraction of CNSL from cashew nuts namely thermal, mechanical, and solvent extraction.
- How is cashew kernel obtained?
- Cashew kernel is obtained through factory processing as follows. Raw Cashewnut (RCN) that are sun-dried & stored in the Warehouse are steamed in a cooker vessel. The duration of steam cooking also depends upon the condition of the RCN and prevailing atmospheric conditions.
